I am currently filling out the form and needed some assistance on my eligibility for filing form N-400.

I became a Permanent resident February 3rd 2007.

I have made about 10 trips outside the USA because my family was there but they have recently immigrated now.

Since February 3rd 2007 till today I have been outside of the USA nearly 1,330 days.

Am I eligible to apply for citizenship?

I have been a permanent resident for 6 years and each of my trips outside of the USA have been less than 180 days. In these six years I have been physically present in the USA for 930 days.

I was being doubtful since it says on the form "since the past five years". So how do I check my eligibility?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

looking at the path to US Citizenship it says the following:

  • Have continuous residence in the United States as a green card holder for at least 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application
  • Be physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application

I hope that helps?

How many days have you been out of the US in the past 5 years?

In the last 5 years (from the date you apply) you need to have been present for at least 30 months, or 900 days (roughly).

You said in the last SIX you've been present for 930, when it's the last five that matter. So, from May 15, 2008 until today, how many days have you been inside the US?

If it's less than the required 30 months, then you will need to wait to apply until you have been in the US longer than 30 months. You also need to have been living in your current residence for 90 days preceding the filing.
