My 2 year old daughter is going through the same process as I am for the IR-1 Green Card.

My question is regarding documentation. The NVC wants everything including police certificates, employment letters (from Petitioner), etc from adults in the process, but what will I have to supply for my daughter? Do I need police certificate for her? What else will they ask for? Just want to be prepared.

Can anyone shed some insight into this?

I am in the same case, also filing for my 8 and 10 year old children.

I am going to send an original birth certificate (long version) for both as well as 2 passport pictures each.

Because they are under 16 years old we do not need to provide a PCC.

I am going to complete an I-864 for each of us as well as a D230.

I will contact NVC tomorrow to find out whether I can sign on their behalf or whether they should.

Please keep in mind that for Canadian forms you will not be sending anything by mail. So it is not quite the same as Clemjam who is from France. Your daughter will need her own original I-864 from your spouse. That will be sent by email.

I actually made an email address for each of my children so we could track their items separately. You might consider doing the same.

The DS-260 is completed online and it will be much quicker than yours since it won't have previous addresses to worry about or information about jobs.

If you were married previously you will need to show that the marriage is legally over. You will also need to show that you can move with her to another country depending on the relationship with the other biological parent.

In writing all of this I'm assuming that your US spouse is NOT the biological parent?

Because the child is less than 16, NO police report is required.

The OP is from Canada so the forms are a little different than with other countries. :)

Are they asking you for police certificate and employment letters for your spouse or you the petitioner and what are they asking for I ask this because i am starting the process and it is crazy if they want a police for a 2 year old .I was told that my wife would need a police letter on her but not a child please let me know thank you GeneRose

Anyone under the age of 16 does not need a police certificate. An adult does. A 2 year old child does NOT need a police certificate.

FlyCal, I don't want to pry and I also don't want to ask questions where the answer is very obvious but I might be missing something. Let me know if I have this correct:

Your wife is the USC?

And this is HER biological daughter? When you say YOUR daughter do you mean step-daughter? My husband calls our kids HIS sons not step-sons, which makes me happy but for terminology for immigration it is helpful to be VERY clear on accurate titles.

If your wife is a USC then her (your) daughter should be able to get her citizenship through her as opposed to filing I-130 paperwork. Have you looked into this?

I'm a little confused by your situation and want to offer the best support or point you towards someone who can if one of us doesn't have an answer for you that helps.
