Hi Every1!!!

I am USC and I filed I-130 for my husband in september 21st when I was in USA, then i got my NOA1 within a week then i got 1 more notice from CSC on october 2nd that they transfer my case because office intidcates some jurisdiction on my case and now i got a notice in which they schedule my interview on May 29th at chicago office but unfortunately i m not in USA, I m in pakistan to visit my husband.. let me share whts in my notice

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU KEEP THIS APPOINTMENT AND BRING THIS LETTER WITH YOU. Failure to appear for the scheduled interview will be deemed an abandonment of the application and will result in a denial of the application pursuant to 8 CFR 103.2(b)(13). We may record or videotape your interview.

If you are unable to do so, state your reason, sign below and return this letter to this office at once.

As i told u that i m not in USA and i can't go back to USA right now because of some reason, I am here to ask that it is neccessary to appear for scheduled interview or can i just send them that letter with my signature and reason..

if i dont appear for scheduled interview and send them that signed letter with reason, will they deny my case or will my case b delayed or lengthy? is it possible that they reschedule my interview in pakistan at US embassy if i request them?

Plz help i really need it..

Thanx in advance

Aslmualaiakum,

I hope you are doing well. My wife was asked to attend the interview as well. She filed the petition last year and earlier this year she was interviewed by Local USCIS office. The interview was very light and pleasant. May I know what could be the reason for not attending the interview. I know that you are in Pakistan but can't you go back to states? I suggest that you call USCIS and request to reschedule your interview. If I were in your shoes I would go back.

Jazak Allah

When the USC is asked to go to an interview at a local office they are often approved that same day, or even when they are at the interview the rep tells them they've been approved. If you don't go to the interview, you're just going to be prolonging the approval. I would get back to the States and go to the interview.

This is partially correct but the part that is incorrect is a very dangerous error. If the OP does not go to the interview, their petition will be denied. She can attempt to reschedule but USCIS is extremely unreliable about rescheduling such appointments. My advice is to move heaven and earth to get back to the USA and attend that interview. Otherwise, there's a good chance the petition will be denied and they'll need to file a new one.

In that case, OP, it doesn't look like you have much of a choice. Do whatever is necessary to get back to the States and get to that interview!

I vote for 'buy air tickets and show up for the interview'

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
