About a month after our NOA2 (March 4th) we were contacted by the NCV and directed to register to receive communication by email. On March 21 we paid the AOS fee and filed the DS-261 (DS-3032 online alternative). Since then we have returned the AOS package electronically.

We are getting anxious and would like to pay the Immigration Visa Application fee and get started on the Application forms. It has been 3 weeks since we completed our DS-261 and still no correspondence on how to proceed with the payment or the paperwork. We elected for email correspondence. Why and how should we be expecting next steps information for the Immigration Visa Application?

Japan is not an online forms or EP country. You need to fill out and send the forms by mail except you can send an email template of the ds-3032.

Edit. The beneficiary is in Canada? Sorry I just saw your timeline. So yes you use online forms. Did you optin for the electronic processing?

Call the NVC today and see what's up.

Matt,

Have you actually tried logging onto the payment portal to see if the IV bill was invoiced? Don't wait for correspondence to tell you to log on.

And make sure you're always using IE to log on to pay bills. I've frequently seen people not see any bills while on other browsers, but as soon as they use IE, bam! Bills are there!

Yes we did the optin for electronic processing and we were accepted. Maybe because my wife is a Canadian PR and we were married in Canada. It is odd because I can see the "IV Application Processing Fees" section but it has a padlock icon and says "Not Available". I don't know if that is because they are sending a paper package and paper fee payment forms or if it is some other factor. I guess it is best to call.

Yes we have logged in and that is what is confusing us (just tried again with IE). It says that the next step is to pay, but the payment like has a padlock icon and the link is disabled. It says if we are unable to pay online we should follow the alternate payment instructions, but those alternate instructions mention needing the form that was sent to us and we did not get any form yet. Maybe when we waived the agent 3 weeks ago the forms were sent and we have not yet received?

I'm going to call today.

Are you certain you're following the steps there?

If so, and something seems stalled, is best to get a Human @ NVC and see what's what.

I'm not so convinced the OPT IN for EP was successful, atm.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Just to confirm a few things:

-You did give over BOTH email addresses to NVC when the case number was assigned?

-You went through the entire DS-261 form and submitted it at the end and you have the confirmation page to prove this?

-You're signing into the payment portal and not the online forms portal?

Have you been calling NVC everyday since last month to find out the status of your DS-261?

It took a few days for me to be able to pay the IV fee. I could see it in the online forms portal and could click pay there, but could not pay it in the payment portal. Give it a few more days or call the NVC.
