It is not specific to pharmaceutical science field but if your area of research fall under their "Technology Alert List= TAL" /is in a field that is considered by USA as a potential threat to their country, you need this clearance. It is called "Mantis Check"

Check http://allabout221g.wordpress.com/types/

I have been given Administrative processing every time I applied for a US visa (non-immigrant) before becoming a Canadian.

Thanks for the info. Could you have applied for Mantis check by yourself if you were expecting AP? Or is it just something consulate can process on behalf of you?

No. Its done by consulate. usually the clearance is obtained from Washington DC by the consular office & then visa will be issued by consulate.

India isnt't part of MENA. Source

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but why does having high educational background consider red flag? Especially in Pharmaceutical science field?

Thanks for quoting me 3 months later?

Here to fix it for you: OR Pakistan OR India OR another high fraud country which includes a list longer than my arm. Do you really need to go into the fact that India isn't MENA but is a high fraud country?

just wanted to know if India was part of MENA countries after I read your post. Thought to read up on it and quoted you out of curiosity that even India isnt part of MENA, it might be a factor for AP.

Does México fall into this category? My husband is a Canadian permanent resident but a Mexican citizen. I am just trying to gauge if we will have any issues when it comes time to issue his visa. We are still waiting to get his i601 waiver approved (fingers crossed).

MENA is Middle East Northern Africa.

He may have a few more questions than a Canadian citizen would, but he likely will not have too much trouble.

Beyond the waiver that is.

After a year in AP. We finally received notice from the embassy requesting an update medical, police report, intent to marry letter (K1 fiance petition) and a DS-260.

However, when I got to complete the DS-260 I receive the following response.

Summary Information

K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case.

I have email the consulate and yet to hear back. Wondering if anyone else had any experience with anything of the like.

Thankst

We had our interview yesterday and was handed a "Refusal worksheet" stating we are "ineligible to receive a visa..." under Section 221 (g). Then on the bottom it say "Further consideration will be given to your visa application after you obtain and presend the documents listed above and/or the following: EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP.

During the application process I've already submitted iMessage log, Facetime, and viber message. I didn't submit the WHOLE log as it is a lot, so I submitted when we started talking and the last month of our conversation.

We asked the CO what type of evidence do you want and his response was "I don't know, that is up to you to find out". We mention our iMessage, Facetime, and viber and he say it was not enough. Needless to say he was not very helpful.

I don't know what evidence are they looking for. Were the evidence I submitted weren't enough, should I gather the whole history of our iMessage, Facetime and viber and send it to them? We just don't know what type of evidence are they looking for.

We are seriously thinking of hiring a lawyer to help us with this now. Before we do that I just want to ask if anyone has this issue before? Please help

LBCTT,

i'm sorry you went through that.

as far as evidence - you def want to show as much as possible to show them that you are a serious married couple.

for example, my husband and I visited each other a lot - if we flew - i had those flight receipts/itineraries.

also, we made each other beneficiaries on each other life insurance, etc and provided copies of that.

anything that has both of your names on it, should be provided.

photos from your wedding, letters from family, friends that attended your wedding. photos from times that you have been with each other in landmarks, etc.

hope that helps!!!
