My Fiance and I have finally receieved the approval. She is from Azerbaijan and Georgia processes the K-1 Visa.

notification Says that a package will be sent to her explaining what to do. She still has not recieved. it has been over 30 days. We have called the Embassy in Georgia. They are checking.

Embassy says we must pay the visa fee at a bank in Georgia before we can schedule and interview.

Anyone know of a service that can help us pay the visa Fee in Georgia without us having to travel there? They say anyone can pay - we just have to make sure her name is on the receipt. We do not know anyone in Georgia.

The approval document list, I received from the visa center, says she has to get a police cerificate. Does she get it from Azeri police station? Anyone have any ideas or have doen this before? Is there a special form?

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

KFC

I have no experience in that part of the world, but I can tell you what we found in Ghana- maybe it will help?

There was only one branch of one bank where we could pay the interview fee. We had to travel there. There was no other way. I would be very leery if I were you handing money over to any "service" who says they will handle the fee for you. There were people who would "help" you with your immigration in Ghana, and many of them were scammers you don't want associated with your immigration case, and you definitely don't want them handling your money.

The police certificate again we got from just one specific police station in the capitol city of Ghana. We had to travel there a couple of times to complete the process and get the certificate. But it was a pretty standard procedure to move through. We started by going to a police station, and they directed us to the central police station that handled such documents.

When we received the packet with my spouse's interview date and info of what to bring, all of it was incorrect. Everything. List of inaccuracies included: expired forms, inaccurate facts about how much money the fee was, inaccuracies about how many passport photos to bring, even the date was wrong because they scheduled the interview on a public holiday when the consulate was closed- everything in there was incorrect. We had a lawyer who made us a packet with the correct forms and information, but my point is that if you are doing this on your own don't necessarily trust the info the consulate gives you. Double check everything against VJ's guides and department of state website. The Georgian consulate may be way more organized than Ghana's was, but to be safe, double check everything in that packet and don't just trust what they give you.

Also, if you need more info regarding that particular region, you could try posting in the region forums.

Have you tried contacting the bank (Bank of Georgia) or the embassy to see what options are available for Azeri citizens? Certainly your fiancee is not the only Azeri to apply for a K-1 visa or any other fee based service at the embassy. My MIL recently applied for a tourist visa. First step was to find out how much the fee was in GEL - available on the embassy website. The fee is based on a USD amount but is fixed for a specific period of time so it doesn't fluctuate with the daily exchange rate. Next step was to make the payment at the bank. Third step was to make the appointment for the interview. Since my MIL can't use a computer and doesn't have internet, we did it on line for her. The only thing she actually had to do was go to the bank.

Regarding police certificate, it should be from Azerbaijan. She will likely need to make a formal application with the police to get this document. Sorry, I don't know the process in that country.

Be sure to send your lady the 134 affidavit of support. When we applied for our K-1 the instructions were very vague as to whether it was required or not. It was.

Good Luck.

Thank you.

Concern the Police Certificate. Right now very easy to get that certificate. Just have to go to the new government service -web site - asan DOT gov DOT az - located on

address: Baku, Az 1078, Akademik Hasan Aliyev street, 36 (former Inglab str). But, you need take you ID card, filling form there and the next day you can get it. No charge.

Good luck.
