Last night I sent a letter (on the internet) to both of my senators and my congressmen. I will follow up with what happens if I receive help from any of them.

I had previously gone in to my congressmen's office and met with his assistant. She sent an inquiry to USCIS and gave me their "canned" response but nothing beyond that. This time I formally requested all 3 of them to directly intervene with the process and seek approval.

Update............ Exactly one week ago I sent an online "contact us" to both of my senators, and my congressman. Senator Levin responded on Friday (March 22) and Senator Stabenow responded on March 23. Both of them sent what I would consider "canned" letters via snail mail. The letters were almost identical. They both said they would make an inquiry on my behalf (I hope they are willing to do more, because I can do an inquiry 24/7 myself) but will take them up on it anyways. More pressure on CSC cannot hurt. I will continue to explicitly ask them to intervene. I think a generic "please help me" will not get you as far as being specific with what you want.

The letters require me to fill out a waiver giving them permission to act on my behalf, essentially. In Levin's case, I was given a fax number to return it to and I did so immediately. In Stabenow's case I can only return it via mail. I will send it back today.

Update: I just called both of my senator's offices. (Michigan) Both of them have the same position........... "blah blah blah we can only make an inquiry, if we interfere with the process we would be overstepping our bounds blah blah blah". So if that is the truth, then this is virtually no help. Anyone who is able to get their elected officials to "truly" help them is very lucky.

Still no response from my congressman.
