Good morning everyone.I'm in need of serious advice. We received a checklist on March 1,2013, regarding:1) age of residence @16 which we will resubmit ds-230 with updated information....but more pressing issue is 2) sent in affidavit of birth but were not correct. My husband went to his state of birth and acquired a certificate of birth from the local government and he went to the National Population Commission in Nigeria to obtain a Birth Attestation. Question should both documents be included with the checklist?, because the issues of birth certifcate and the ability to obtain and also which documents are acceptable has gotten me so CONFUSED!!!!....I have been extremely stressed and on the verge of tears.PLEASE HELP!!!....Thank you for your time.

What is an "affidavit of birth"? An official birth certificate is what they are looking for, so that should suffice. But it would probably be safe to submit both documents. I don't think submitting two pieces of evidence of his birth should be a problem.

Hopefully someone else from Nigeria (or with a spouse there) can answer your question because it seems to be a little country specific.

Not sure what is a affidavit of birth? I know you need to obtain the long version of the birth certificate and submit an original. I guess it would not hurt to submit the two documents. Make sure you check the info on both and that they are identical. If there is a discrepancy in the docs that might raise a question in their minds. Good luck!
