Hey everyone, this is my very first post on visajourney. Just thought I'd let you know about my AOS interview dates and how USCIS's timing sucks.

Kristen and I have been planning a trip to chicago, with 2 of our friends, to celebrate St Patrick's Day. We were due to fly out on wed 15th March and return on Sun the 19th. I think it may be a conspiracy but I just recieved my appointment letters for my AOS and Biometrics here in Denver, CO. Can any of you guess when those dates are?

My AOS is on the 15th of March and my biometrics is on the 18th!!!! Bummer!

Although I'm glad to get my appointments this soon, they couldn't have picked worse dates!

Have any of you had any experience with rearranging these appointments? i.e. is it going to delay my application seriously or should we just write off our first vacation together and lose our $400 for the flights?

Craig and Kristen

P.S. I'd like to thank anyone who posts on this site as it has really helped with every part of my visa application right through until now! You guys Rock

--Nice timing huh?! But dont u guys think this is more important your vacation? I think it's better than waiting for so long with any noticed bout your application. I also dnt like the fact that They schedule the interview after biometrics, maybe you can try to ask them if u can also do your biometrics after the interview bec. that's what happened to motu the officer ordered their biometrics the same day and it was a success. Hope you will resolve your porbs. Goodluck !

Murphy's law, dude! Sorry to hear about your luck!

Now they will cancel your office dates after you have changed your vacation travel plans.

Isn't it unusual to have the biometrics AFTER the interview? I thought it was always the reverse (but, then, what do I know? )

In any case, they scheduled my husband's biometrics for a date after we would already be out of town for the holidays (in Chicago, by the way...my hometown!). We were flying out on Dec. 18th and they scheduled the biometrics in Salt Lake for the 20th. I called the 800 number on the appointment letter to see if the biometrics could be rescheduled...they said it could, but when I asked for the phone number of the Salt Lake office where we were supposed to go, they said they don't give out the local office numbers to the public (excuuuuuuuuuuse me, but isn't that kinda ridiculous??? ). They said I'd have to write a letter (not email but snail mail) to the office and ask to reschedule and give them a list of dates we were available...then the office would send another appointment letter with the new date. I wasn't about to do all that back-n-forth mailing stuff, so that very day, we got int he car and just drove out to the local office to see if we could reschedule in person (and maybe even get it done right then).

When we got there, I showed them the appt. letter and explained our predicament and asked if we could reschedule. The woman pleasantly said "Sure...we could probably even squeeze you in today." As I looked around at the completely empty waiting area, I hoped that was her lame attempt at being funny. So, we got the biometrics done right then and there...we did luck out that they weren't at all busy at that very moment.

I don't know about the AOS interview, as ours isn't until next week (and, yes, I'm sufficiently nervous :o ). I know the AOS appt. letter says you can reschedule, but I don't know if they'd be able to move it up sooner to before your trip...if not, there's always moving it out to after your trip, but who knows how much longer you'd have to end up waiting in that case. Also, I don't know if there are only certainly "reasons" they'll accept for moving it at all (they give illness as an example, but that's all).

Don't know how much help this has been...but though I do understand about hating to cancel any travel plans (or spending more $ to change them), and I know all about wanting to be in Chicago and seeing them turn the river kelly green on St. Paddy's Day, the other poster was right. Which is really more important to you guys right now?

If you can manage to change the biometrics and AOS dates with not much problem so you can still keep your original travel plans, that'd be wonderful. But if it's not possible...don't worry...they turn the Chicago River green every March 17th
