So basically, I need to start getting the CR-1 process going, and in the mean time, confirm what the status of our previous application is\was. Makes us sad that we can't get the family back together as a unit without waiting for a year+.

She should be able to visit on a tourist visa (if approved) or the VWP if she is eligible (I would hazard a guess not but you can see) and of course your child can come and go whenever as a citizen.
