I should drink more tea. Does it have to be with lemon? This reminds me of my awful grandmother who we thankfully just left in Greece.

I think so -- lemon is full of Vitamin C which boosts your immune system.

Also it dilutes and neutralises the overwhelming sweetness of honey.

You should drink a lot of liquid, period. Tea, water, anything. Your body

needs it right now.

Here is a natural remedy:

Add finely chopped ginger and garlic to a large pot of water, bring to the boil and simmer. Strain the water and add lemon/sugar for taste. Sounds foul I know, but it really does work!

I've got a pretty rough cold going on here. Can't stomach commercial medicines. Any advice?

Alex, try this:

<WARNING: AWFUL TASTE!>

1 lime cut in 4 (with the peel and all)

1 or 2 garlic cloves (fresh, please. no peel)

Put those in a pot with a cup of water and let it boil. Strain it and add honey. Drink it hot.

</WARNING: AWFUL TASTE!>

I hope you have that kind of cold that prevents you from tasting anything.

Don't forget: AWFUL TASTE :dead:

Drink lots of tea with honey and lemon. Works for me. (F)

:thumbs:

Ginger is also an excellent cold/flu aid. Ginger reduces pain and fever and has a mild sedative effect that will encourage rest. And it is tasty (with no lingering odours!). Drink a tea, or soak fresh ginger in hot water, take as a tincture and include it in your food.

It works!

If it's hard do swallow, gurgle (gargle? :blush: ) with warm salt water, hum while you do it so it gets all the way down there!

Doesn't taste good but works wonders against a sore throat.

If you have a fever: sweat.

Prepare the bed with all the comforters you can possibly find, add hot water bottles (one at the feet, one for the belly)

Take a hot bath and drink a cup of tea while you're in the tub.

Get out, wrap yourself in a big towel, put on a scarf, woolen socks, a woolen hat and a bathrobe and get under the blankets- get tucked in, all the way, including head and neck so that only your nose sticks out.

Drink another cup of tea and stay under the blankets for something like 30 to 40 minutes, until you're soaking wet.

Then shower (not too warm) and get back into bed for another 20 minutes to rest, still in robe and warm socks but with just one normal blanket.

That should get rid of the fever and loosens cough, too.

Ok, so far I've gargled salt water and now I'm drinking the chamo tea with some Greek honey and a some lemon from a dropper.

I think I have a full day of cold remedies ahead of me. :)
