Hi guys, I am new to this forum and could really use some support! My US fiance petitioned last April 2o12 and it's only now, Feb 2o13 that we are moving forward any. Myself and my 2 children were seen in London for medical exam this past week. My lovely son who is 16 and was seen on his own by the doctor, admitted that he has used cannabis. They did a urine test and it came back positive - but negative for any other substance.

The Doctor asked me when my son last used cannabis and I discovered it had been 4 days before the exam. The doctor seemed satisfied with this information and there doesn't seem to be any follow up or information about what happens next - I presume they just send the results to the embassy I am so worried about it.

At the same time they found a little problem with my sons 'privates' I'll not go into details and it's not an STD, but he has a hospital referral right now and it might take 6/8 weeks to be seen by the NHS.

My question is two fold.

1. will the hospital referral delay the actual interview and

2. please tell me the cannabis is not a deal breaker...cos it's my son right, not me?

sigh

The hospital referal, is it better to have it done in the UK? How will you pay for the treatment or visit in the US?

As for the Mary Jane, I am not sure, the positive test worries me since it was so close to the interview, did your son not know the ramifications of his actions?

Good luck

Thank you for the reply! Yes it will be better for the treatment to be done in the UK. Regards the cannabis, he thought he had better tell the truth is all. He didn't think of implications. The doctor was impressed with his honesty. He has no prior convictions and he was negative for all other drugs. My fiance is hopeful they will see it as a sign of honesty and good character. I dunno though. He has to attend the interview with me as he is 16.

Yes it is just him, he will be required to take drug test quarterly and it would be best if he was in some sort of rehab program to show that he intends on stopping. IF he passes for the year he can be issued a visa. Not long ago it would have been at least 3 years to get a visa so he is lucky they ave bencome softer on that.
