Marriage after N400 interview, berofe the Oath

I was approved on N400 interview and scheduled for Oath ceremony. If now, before the ceremony, I will get married in my home country, how will that affect the Oath Ceremony? Will I still get the certificate after disclosing that I got married? What paperwork do I have to bring? Thank you!

how far is your ceremony from interview date? Usually it is not scheduled too far from the interview. Either way I do not think your citizenship ceremony has anything to do with your marriage. I would have been concerned with you traveling while waiting for interview date but since the interview is concluded, it should not affect the ceremony, just be sure you can make it in time to attend.

09/26/2012: Mailed I-130 from Nigeria( delayed by customs)
USCIS stage ( 66 days)
10/12/2012: NOA 1
12/17/2012: NOA 2 (case was transferred to NYC office 11/27/12)
NVC stage ( 20 days)
01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
05/13/2013: POE; JFK

N-400: (3 months and 12 days)
Filed N-400 : 2011-06-17
Interview: 2011-09-27
Oath Ceremony: 2011-09-30

IR-5 for Mom Entire process took 5 months exactly
USCIS (22days)
mailed I-130 : 2011-09-30
NOA 1: 2011-10-03 (text & email)
NOA 2: 2011-10-25 (text and email)
NVC: (19 days)
Case entered and # assigned: 2011-11-18
NVC Case COMPLETED: 2011-12-07 ( 43 days from NOA 2 and 65 days from NOA 1)
Interview Date(Lagos): 2012-01- 23 Mom was late for interview
New Interview date: 2012-02-29 : VISA APPROVED

Thank you, ndu26! I have a month and a half between interview and the oath. That should give enough time for the trip. I have a feeling that I need to bring a proof of marriage to the Oath ceremony - translation of certificate or something?

They dont ask anything of such at the ceremony. you just go through security, then when its time, you are all ushered into a room and asked to submite your green card ( since you no longer an LPR). veryone sits down and some people read out stuff about US history to you, , abrief video maybe and then the national anthem is sung after Oath taking. Then You are called to receive your package ( naturalization cert, letter from the president, guides on what is next after citizenship) and then mingling with your guests, pictures etc briefly then everyone leaves....untless things have changed.

If it makes you feel better you could take those documents along but there is no basis for them being needed right there.

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

How can anyone give you an answer without knowing your history. For example, if you came here single with the lottery or a work visa then went home and married a person from your home country, shouldn't make much difference.

On the other hand, if you came here via marriage to a US citizen, got a divorce, then run home to marry a person from your home country, that would raise a huge red flag, fraud would be suspected.

Could also ask, why the rush, your marriage if you want to live together here involves the USCIS. Both my wife and I as kids rushed into marriage, was the biggest mistakes of our lives. With the USCIS involved this time, we elected patience, got everything cleared first, during that time, we learned we could work together and solve our problems. Ether of us could have backed out during that 13 month wait, we didn't.
