Hi everyone, sometimes when it comes to filing forms, the doubts are endless....sorry whether if this question has been once asked & answered...I would like to know what i should do when My parents are also cosponsoring with me??? I have filed I-864 and my parents have filed I-864A. Do I include my original birth certificate or is the photocopy alright to show the relationship between us? and also do I have to include our drivers license in order to prove that we both live in the same household (as an address proof)?

You would have to submit the photocopy of your & parent's birth-certificate. They generally require co-sponsor birthcertificate to ensure their citizenship status.

Driving License is not required, as it doesn't matter whether you all live at same place or not.

Just because you live int he same home does not mean you are household members for the affadavit of support; are you financially dependant on your parents/ did they claim you on their tax return, or the other way around? If not, I suggest the primary wage earner of your parents fill in I-864 as joint sponsor, and the other parent I-864A.

No need to prove relationship, as it doesn;t matter for financial sponsorship, but they do need to prove they are US citizens or greencard holders.

Oh..thanks....but my parents are naturalized citizens..so isn't their US passports good enough to prove their citizenship status??? and it is strictly stated on the Naturalization Certificate that it is punishable & illegal to take copies of that certificate.

Yes they did.

But i have read from the "NVC feb filers 2013" topic that one should include the proof of relationship to show the link..."If the joint sponsor is a household/family member, also include proof of that relationship (example: if a parent is a joint sponsor, include the petitioner's birth certificate with parents' name on it to show link)." So in my case, my joint sponsors are my parents.

In this situation, you really should have the head of household file their own I-864, with other parent an I-864a instead of both parents doing I-864a forms. You, of course, file your own I-864. The a form is for combining income. Unless you need all three incomes combined, in order to qualify, follow the advise in the first sentence of my reply.

In this scenario, you are the sponsor/petitioner, one parent is the "joint sponsor" and the other parent is the "household member". Provide evidence mom and dad are either USC's or LPR's. Their joint tax return is sufficient evidence they are in the same household.

But it is strictly stated on the Naturalization Certificate that it is punishable & illegal to take copies of that certificate.

You'll be sending the copy for an immigration purpose. No worries. They see many copies of Naturalization Certificates every day. No problem. REALLY!
