Police Certs: How many are needed?

This week my wife is going to start applying for her police certificates. She will need to obtain police certs from Japan and Canada. From reading the guides it says that you have to send the original police certs to the NVC with the DS-230. But I'm reading on here how people had to bring their police certs to their interviews. I was under the impression that you send the original police certs to NVC and then they forward the originals to the embassy with the rest of your information. Is that correct? Or will she need to have another set of original police certs to bring to the interview?

I believe that it's members who are doing EP (electronic processing) and maybe(?) DCF (direct consular filing) that have to bring original police certs to their interview. Your wife should make two copies of everything sent to USCIS and NVC, so that she can provide the CO with copies of anything they request, but you should only need ONE set of original police certs, which will be sent in your IV package. Hope this helps.

Police in okinawa told my wife they need some form from the NVC to get her a police crime certificate, Yomitan village to be specific.... I told her to go in and get them to give them to here any way she could....I am not aware of any form that she would need to give them to "authorize" them to do a cert.

Anyone know or heard of this #######?

Follow this link and select her country from the drop-down list. It goes on to say where she can apply for her police certificate. NVC does not have a request form for police certs. She may have to go to a larger city in her district. Good luck to you. :thumbs:
