Hello All,

I am planning to file my green-card application. I married to US citizen girl and I have some questions regarding Sponsor.

My wife is student and she don't have any tax return and she is under her dad's tax return as part of family. So my question is, who should be filling i864 to sponsor me?

My father-in law and Mother-in law, they both are working, so do they both need to fill i864 and i864A form for me? I am also working, so can i fill i-864 or i can't ?

Please guide me for this. I really appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

Your wife is your main sponsor and must file the I-864, even with no income. Your mother in law can be used as a joint sponsor.

Thanks for the quick reply mimolicious. If i understood you correctly, my wife is main sponsor and my father in-law as First Joint sponsor and my mother in law as second joint sponsor and they all going to fill I-864 and I-864A for my father-in law and my mother-in law? Please correct me if my understand is incorrect.

If your father in law makes 125% above the current poverty guidelines for the family you don't need more than one joint sponsor

Hello, It may sound silly question, but I just want to make sure before move ahead for my green card filing.

What do you mean by income should be above 125% of poverty line? Can someone please explain with small example, if possible?

My understanding is it should be 125% plus poverty line income based on family members.

Please clarify this.
