We submitted our I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox in late January 2013 and just received notice that it has been routed to the National Benefits Center for processing. I did not think NBC was one of the centers that processed I-130s. Further, I don't see a category for I-130s listed on the NBC's processing timeline on USCIS's website. What do you think?

There are many many many of us at the NBC with 130's ... some people have been forwarded on to local offices, but many stay at NBC (as far as we can tell). If you go to the Immigration Timelines here on visajourney and look at the 130's, you will see many people there.

Thank you for your quick response. I now feel silly seeing that NBC is a quite common processing center for I-130s. I am a new member to this website and had not been checking in the correct location. Good luck with your immigration!

If you read my signature, you'll see that our case was also transferred to NBC, has been adjudicated and approved. We have even moved onto the NVC portion of the process.

This link should hopefully clarify why they have been transferred. Mainly, due to ease the work-load of the other centers (i.e. VSC, CSC).

If you do some searching in this site you will find tons of posts about NBC and how they are indeed processing the petitions. Mine went there and never left. Others have had theirs transferred to local offices for processing. It is a subject that has been debated a great deal here over the past few months. Do some digging and you'll find a lot of frustrated folks as well as some pleasantly surprised ones, like myself.

You can also fill our your actual timeline. You need to be on a PC or using full version on a cellphone or tablet, and click on your name in the top right. You'll see "My timeline (add/edit)" Fill that baby out and your profile so that we get a general idea of what you're filing for, where the beneficiary is from, etc... and voila! You can also put the stuff you just listed in your signature for people to see.

Pretty common actually. It took a few months for mine to show up and others don't until they've been approved. Heck there a guy on here whose number still says initial review even though his wife now has citizenship! Lol

That was exactly what happened with me. I could never see any of our 3 applications until the day it changed over to APPROVED.

Our case was routed to NBC as well back on September 20th and we got our NOA2 on November 26th. It took just a little more than two months! Quite a few people whose cases were routed to NBC around the same time got their NOA2 in around two months. We consider us the lucky bunch as we know a lot of people who sent in their applications before mid August are still waiting for their NOA1 NOW! And most of them are VSC filers.

Jesus, that's nuts. And the stupid USCIS customer service people wonder why I call them once a week for an update.
