My husband had his Spouse Visa interview end of September 2012 in which he was asked to provide some further documentation and was told that embassy need some further processing. And once that documents are received and processing finished he will be contacted to submit his passport.

He did send those documents in the first week of November however now its almost 3 months he has not been contacted and when he called today he has come to know that they contact via email and he explained that he has an old Hotmail account where he receive 100s of junk email and he just want to know if embassy tried to contact him or not and the embassy representative said no they cannot give any type of update.

No our worry is if we have lost their emails in junk what would happen – would they write a letter or close our case or what we can do.

Is there some good lawyer in UK which we could use.

I would really appreciate a response to this as we are really worried now 

Welcome to the Hell hole. I have been in AP for over 1 yr and each time you email the embassy, they give me the same answer, yes, AP. I didn't even told that they would need some further processing but yet they put me in AP. It is sort of hit and miss kind of deal, if you get lucky you will get your visa, if not then you wait like me. I hope this is not the case. You can also check your case STATUS on this website https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

To be honest , I don't think if lawyer can do anything about this. I would just wait and see...

Good luck.

What documents were requested?

Posted

Following documents were requested:

1- Tax returns of spouse

2- Sponsorship letter from spouse.

@Jenny

What is the country code of this phone numbr 202-663-1225.

@zeezee

What is AP ?

BTW we applied from London.

That phone number is in the US. AP is "Advanced Processing", which usually means what happens when additional processing is required after the visa interview.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

Does anyone know what email address or domain this email comes from so i make sure it does not go into my junk.

@state.gov

Call the Department of State number in the US (given above) or get your wife to call. They can look at what London has entered into their records and may be able to give you information.

Or you can call the embassy and insist to speak to a consular officer. The call center (in Scotland) has limited access to your case information. They also can't put you through to speak to someone at the embassy. BUT if you keep insisting you need an answer from an immigration officer, they will give you an e-mail code to put in the subject line of your email and you will get an answer. It make take 3 days, but you should get an answer from someone with authority to look at your files.

The Operator Assisted Visa Information and Nonimmigrant Appointment Booking Service is available at the following times:

Monday - Friday : 8.00 a.m. until 21:00 GMT

Saturday : 09.00 a.m. until 16:00  GMT

 Callers within the United Kingdom

Callers from within the United Kingdom should dial 09042-450-100. Calls to this line are charged at £1.23/min plus network extras.  Callers from outside the U.K. and some mobile and network providers cannot access this number.

It could be a failure to hear from them that they are ready for you to submit your passport via courier. Or iif you were not born in the UK or have middle east or Muslim ties, you may indeed be in the Additional Processing which means further security checks that could take months. Find out which boat you're in. Try calling the DOS number first. There's no additional charge by the minute like the embassy. Ask if they show a record of receiving your additional documents. Ask if there is an indication you have been approved and they are waiting on your passport.
