Timeline for NVC steps

Hi guys,

Was looking through this forum at people's timelines and think I may have found the answer but thought I'd ask anyway...

My wife and I recently received our NOA2 the other day after waiting six months- very pleased! We know what steps we have to take during the NVC stages, but wanted a rough idea of overall timeline...

Since I'll be moving to the US, I need to hand in notice at my current Job, which holds a 2-month notice period. I want to time this just right! Too soon and I'll be with no income for a certain amount of time. Too quick and I'll be stuck at my job, when I could be on my way to the States!

Does anyone have any first hand experience of how long it takes roughly- ideally from the NOA2 approval to getting officially approved (hopefully) after interview!

Depending on when your case gets to NVC and you get a case# that can vary from 2 weeks to 4 to 5 weeks. AOS paid, sent in and accepted can be 7 to 14 days same for DS-230 package.

Waiting for interview once you have case complete is embassy specific.

So all in all from NOA2 to interview could take 2 months could take 4 or 5.

We still have people here who had case complete at NVC still waiting on interviews (go see the February Interview thread) to get an idea of some countries wait times.

Here is the interview thread. And it would help others if you filled in timeline and we knew the country. Otherwise you won't get specific information pertaining go you.

Also, keep in mind that you can choose when you are going to actually make your move to the U.S. once you have your visa. There is a 6 month expiry on the visa so you can choose your timing on your quit notice based on what works best for you. Maybe you can give your notice once you find out your date of your interview.

I've asked about this before but have heard that it differs depending on your embassy. Basically I want to go over in May and visit hubby for a while on an ESTA and fly back for my interview (at this point I'm assuming a late June/early July interview) Do I need to wait until I am given an interview date (London embassy) before I can schedule my medical or would it be possible for me to arrange my medical as soon as I get to the NVC stages/when my NVC is case complete? I'd like to be able to have had my medical before flying out to visit him, but if I have to wait until I have my interview date there may not be a huge amount of time between the two? Does that make sense? Lol!

Another thought.

Hand in your notice when you learn of 'interview date scheduled' timetick at NVC.

That should get you really close to your 2 month notice period, give or take 2 weeks.
