In the CR1 step by step guide on here, it says you will receive a "Of 230" is this s typo and it should be a DS-230 ?

Once the DS-230 is filled in is this taken to the embassy at Interview or mailed back to the NVC beforehand ?

Thanks

You need to go to the NVC filers -January 2013 thread read post #1 and #2.

There's a lot to the DS-230 and other documents.

Thank for the info, i have read all the guides and post 1 and 2 in that thread, many, MANY times over. I'm still a little confused about originals or copies to mail in the DS30 package. I was under the impression that the only place i would have to either send or show original BC and Marriage Cert` was at the embassy when i went for the interview, is this not correct ? i have my original birth certificate and if i mail it with the DS230 package does it then get forwarded to the London embassy or do i have to get another original one to take there?

thanks again

no, not correct.

Please understand the civil doc requirements for the DS-230

read all pages at DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Ok, now im totally confused, someone in an earlier message on this thread said that the DS230 packet is sent to the NVC but according to other threads ive been reading the packet is sent to the London embassy!

the answer is both!

Document intake occurs at NVC.

Once document intake is finished at NVC, the entire casefile is sent on to the IV Unit in London.

Anything sent to NVC will NOT be asked for at the IV unit, unless something is off:

1. new tax year by the time of interview, so need new I-864 document

2. police clearance certificate expired, so need a new one.

and that's it !

now, if there isn't any NVC doc intake (which happens on DCF'd casefiles) that usually means , usually, that it's a DCF'd case , instead.

So, if you sent an I-130 to a lockbox address in the USA, you WILL have NVC Doc Intake.

Good Luck !

Thanks, that clarifies things a little, so when i get the request from the NVC for documents, am i correct that they may not ask for BC, MC and PC and just request that these are sent to the London embassy ?

sorry, those folk in that topic are either K-1 or DCF'd IV. Both of those visa types require a packet 3 and packet 4 to be handled at the Embassy.

You are not that type o visa. Or are you ? [checking yer timeline...] Nope, you filed to the lockbox address.

So, relax a bit, and study this, whilst waiting?

Thanks again, yes i realized that, ive been reading the UK forum a lot more than others as obviously it applies to me.

I see on the step by step guide it says

"Forms that may be either sent back (or requested to be gathered and kept for the interview) to the NVC or the consulate abroad (depending upon which consulate you are going through) before an interview date with a consulate abroad can be scheduled are as follows:"

Im months away from this so gonna read the link you sent and relax and try take it all in an have another look in a couple of months:)

thanks again

Stop confusing yourself. If you are to get through NVC and get case complete you must submit originals or certified copies of originals.

Your police certificate has nothing to do with your medical. I believe London EmbaSsy folk can have medicals done before they get interview letter.

Be sure when you see peoples post and what they are saying you look to the left under their name and see what they are filing for.

Good luck.
