Hi everyone....

Ive been reading a lot about k1 visa, but i still have couple questions about 134 form( aff.of.support) can anyone tell me if my fiance doesnt work at the moment and his grandma decided to help and be our sponsor, is it okay?does someone have the same situation and got approved anyway???

2nd question is what do we need from her... what kinds of documents does she have to send me with the form134....

3rd... we got our noa1 on August 28th and our case is in Vermont.... Is there someone who got approval from VSC ???? how far are they with the application? do you know.....

its been almost 5 months and nothing... im getting nervous...!! help.... do you know if the information on the uscis website are true... its still saying they are on june4th but they also say they update the website every 15th but they dont...some people said they got approval and their NOA1 was from july .... so how does that make sense :) :)

please answer :)

Karolina, welcome to VJ!

What's your home country? You'll have t follow the guidelines of that country or the country you'll have your interview in. SOme embassies do not allow co-sponsors however, most do. You'll need everything that the primary sponsor would need to submit. Proof of income, tax transcript, proof of being a US citizen - please see the K1 guide, or follow the country specifics once we know which country you're from. : )

Currently, it's taking longer than 5 months to process petitions. I'd suggest finding the August 2012 I129F filer group to join and get updates.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

Im from Poland.... do you know something more about it :)

Your fiance's grandma needs to provide documents to show that her income meets the guideline for supporting herself, all her dependents (if she has any) + you. Decision on co-sponsor is basing on the merit of the CO. Some countries are OK some aren't. I am sure U.S consulate in Poland is OK with co-spondor.

You can find their contact info on their website-

http://poland.usembassy.gov/poland/docs_checklist_fiance.html

They seem to be rather lax

"The Affidavit of Support form I-864 is not required for K visas. However, petitioners must provide proof of adequate financial support once in the United States to ensure the applicant will not become public charges. Documentation regarding financial support can be in any form so long as it contains enough detail and information for the consular officer to conclude that the beneficiary will not become a public charge. Petitioners may submit the form I-134 if they wish."

Never heard that before- submit the 134 if you wish (?)

I would urge you to contact them by phone or email for clarification and secure a co-sponsor in writing (the 134) just to be safe.

Re read that as If you wish to get a K1 visa you must provide an I 134 , if you don't wish to get the visa it is optional.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
