Question about IRS Tax Return Transcript

Hi everyone, my husband will be eligible to file his application for citizenship at the end of this month, and we are in the process of putting the package together. When we applied for his ROC, I wasn't aware of the existence of VJ, and I didn't know that we could send tax return transcripts. Therefore, I made copies of our joint tax returns and I submitted all that paperwork (and fortunately he was approved). Now that he is applying for citizenship, I have ordered our tax return transcripts for the past 3 years (which arrived today).

My question is do we send the actual tax return transcripts, or should we send copies? I was thinking of sending the actual transcripts and then having my husband take all our tax returns for the past 3 years to the interview as evidence.

Any guidance from those who have more experience and knowledge will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

You can make copies of IRS tax transcripts. That way you have a copy to send in with your paperwork and a copy to keep for your records.

According to USCIS, you are always advised to send copies of evidence and when required USCIS will ask for the original and they will return it to you later.
