It sounds like he has an issue with the round. I suppose he would support ammo regulation on the powder charge.

The general is an idiot. Shoot an object with a .223 and then shoot the same object with a .300 mag.

Nobody said officers were smart, and that one is clueless.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

As you pointed out the M16 has full auto capabilities along with three round burst. That right there makes it illegal.

Context. It's not that hard. The General is talking about the deadly power these rifles are capable of delivering not about the frequency in which they deliver it. He's talking about what a single bullet will do to a human body. It does not take an automatic rifle to deliver a single shot.

So does spending five minutes with a file and a piece of tin, that allows the civilian version to fire full auto.

Well, if I had take a guess on who knows what they're talking about, my money would be on the 4-star General over the armchair general every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I've never shot an AR but I did try a mini 14. The recoil seemed very mild to other things I've shot.

And again the general doesn't have a clue. The .223 is cheap to make and it flies for a distance with flat projectory. Other than that it's a total ####### round.

The .223 is a varmint round. You want to see real damage? Try 30-06, 7mm mag, .300 mag, and .375 mag just to name a few.

It's easy to train on.. .223 that is. No kick, cheap to make, and easy on the shoulder.

Take a peanut butter jar, knock a hole in the lid, fill the jar full of gas and stuff a rag in it. You just went from peanut butter jar to Molotov Cocktail.

I sure hope if the thugs breaking in around the neighborhood shot me, they do it with a .40 cal 165 grain instead of a 5.56 so I will not get died.

Not all but many high ranking offciers are ticket punching poloticking sychopants that would sell their soul and men for the next rank. A lot of real leaders don't make it

Military, civilian. The losers always say that the "real leaders" are held back.

It's like king of the hill in the military for officers, up the hill, or off the hill. Up, or out. There are fewer and fewer slots the higher you get up in rank. There are many more career 2LT's and Ensigns in the military than those that make the next few ranks. Good thing most of them leave on their own, for a multitude of reasons, or there would be some serious heatbreak.

Smart guy.

He is a political climber plain and simple.

Lets take a look at that terrible bullet that should not even be on the streets.

497px-30-30.jpg

2 of these are typical hunting rounds, one is the ammunition for the m-4 shoots ....which incidentally is too small to even be used to hunt large game by many state laws.

Now lets follow the good Generals logic, if that little pointy bullet is to much for civilians to handle.... how big of a stretch would it be for the big and powerful ones to be banned next?

Everyone of their talking points are smoke and mirrors, not only deceptive but even worse...meaningless to stop one person or even limit the damage they do.

They are so fixated on banning meaningless features of guns that nothing serious will change.

Lets assume we have magically removed all the Military styled guns and all guns with magazines.....

How many unarmed teachers and kids can you kill with gun a 150 year old ...... in 15 minutes?

While this guy is certainly well practiced, you can imagine it would n't take much to be able to shoot half that fast.

We need to focus on insulating mentally ill people from possessing guns because even with the most simple hunting gun, one can seek out an unarmed crowd and the madness is unstoppable until another gun gets there.

Sick people can use most anything to achieve their goals.

even poisoned arrows are a possibility.
