We are awaiting my wife's appointment at the Montreal consulate (I am the USC) and we are a little worried. My wife has travel plans to come to the states at the end of July but we heard that they keep your passport once they approve you and you get it back in 3-5 business days. What if the interview is scheduled right before the trip she is supposed to take across the border? Do they allow you to take you passport to make your travel plans and then bring it back or something? I assume not but we are concerned that she will not be able to make the trip if the interview is scheduled right before the trip. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this? Thanks for any help any one might be able to provide.

Glad to hear you have both been approved! I still have not received a response to my email (over a month now). But it's encouraging for me to see you have both been approved as you have NOA1 dates close to mine. Hoping that translates to something positive for us. I'm in Tokyo visiting my wife right now and it would great to get some kind of news while we're together smile.png

I got my NOA2 on 3rd May but even after 1.5 Months, NVC hasn't received our file yet!!

My wife has mailed them as well as called them multiple times, but they are giving the same answer that they have'nt received our file yet!!

Is there anyone else experiencing similar delay or there is something wrong with our case?

Hi

I had a similar problem ... try calling USCIS and speaking to a tier 2 to find out where it is ... we also got a senator involved .. not sure how much that helped because they didnt get back to us but between the constant phone calls to USCIS and the senator something much have worked because NVC received out file a few weeks ago .. (almost 2 months after we were approved) ... some others on this site have said that some local offices are apparently keeping approvals for extended periods of time in order to send them to NVC in batches.... I hope it works out for you smile.png

Is there anyway to find out where my file is? Or call local field office to see if they can send it? Anything we can do?

Thanks!

I got my NOA2 on March 29 and NVC hasn't received my file yet. I found out that it was sent to the Los Angeles local office, which apparently is like putting it into a black hole.

My husband contacted his congressman and they have been looking into it. They told him yesterday that our file is on it way to NVC now (fingers crossed). They said it was sent to the L.A. office because they thought I was living in L.A. which doesn't make sense since I can't live there without a visa.

- I wrote to them about my pending application with the USCIS.

- Mentioned in the letter with specific dates of when I spoke to the Tier 2 rep and how conflicting information I was getting from them...

- Mentioned about my case not available online since the day I filed

I asked for any information they could provide. On 7th of June i received a letter from them regarding the status of my file - the letter stated that my file was scheduled for review on the 17th of June. I followed up on the 20th (yesterday) and asked if i could get a follow up call

Got the call today and approved. He said the letter (NOA2) would follow shortly...
