Hello everyone, I hope 2013 brings you all the joys that you dream for.

I have a question, On November 1st we sent I-130 and two weeks later received a text stating that my application had been received and then I saw they cashed our check however since then we have heard nothing, and when I try to check my status online it says cannot be found. My husband contacted them and they said they see that it was received but thats all that has been done so far. I'm worried that it can take years for this to go through..does anyone have any advise or words of wisdom for me? thank you.

It won't take years (hopefully)

but it will take months. If you have a case number (starting with EAC, WAC...etc) then you are good to go. It can take a bit for them to get it into the system.

Right now, wait.

Start thinking about the medical (espeically if you have to travel as only 4 doctors in Canada ar able to do it) the interview, which will be in Montreal, and obtaining any police certificates

Your timeline says K3 visa, you are aware the K3 is no longer available right? Do NOT file the I129F, it won't do your case any good.

This is a lengthy and complicated process. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the VisaJourney site. Look at other timelines in the timeline section and read other posts within the Canada forum as well as the CR1/IR1 process forums. You will find old posts about not being able to see your case online and other items that will help you to understand the process. 06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Right now the I-130s are being redirected to be processed at either NBC (National Benefit Centre in MO) or at a local office. Your local office is in Greer, SC.

There will be the number that canadian_wife is talking about on the Notice of Action (NOA1) and that is what you will use. MSC numbers seem to be taking a while to be input.

I am a couple of months ahead of you but I am hoping to be able to move down in July.
