Hi I finally just receieved an email stating

"Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS California Service Center for processing."

Is that the same as NOA1? The check I sent was already cashed by them by the way.I see on the official government website it states our case is in "Initial Review"

Can anyone tell me what that means exactly? Thanks!

It is??? Ok great I was hoping that! haha yes now more waiting since I was already waiting 2 weeks to receive that notice! Thanks!

What comes next now and how long should it take??

if the package you sent satisfies their requirements and you don't get any RFE (request for evidence), what comes next is the approval of your petition (NOA2). Click on "Immigration Timelines" above on the dark blue bar, then click on K1 Visa Timelines [ Stats ] [ Trends ], choose the Service Center they sent your petition and you will have an idea of how long they are taking to process it. Looks like CSC (California Service Center) is pretty fast right now: about 4 months.

Hurry up and wait is the slogan of the US gov't. LOL My husband says that all he did in the military. Hurry up and wait. ;)

Ok awesome thank you! My fiance will also do his interview at Rio de Janeiro I see thats where you guys did yours. Are they pretty laid back there or are they one of the harder ones do you know?

You're welcome. The interview in Rio is pretty easy, all he has to worry about is to take all the papers the consulate asks for and to show them you guys have a bonafide relationship. Actually, I took a big folder with lots of relationship evidence, they didn't even look at them, but it is good to be prepared.

I described my experience and list of documents in my blog (in Portuguese), here is the link in case you guys want to take a look.
