Hi VJ friends. We got our petition approval on November 26, 2012. We have a lawyer working with us. I wouldnt want to ask him any more questions as he has been busy preparing for our documents. We've completed all the forms and everything is ready for sending to the NVC. We are just waiting now.

My question is, will the petitioner (my husband) receive a notice from the NVC to inform us that they've received our docs from the USCIS? (for sure by now they have them) Or do NVC always contact the authorize agent directly? Lawyer said on Nov 27 that we shall receive our invoice in the next 30 days. Well, its only been 16 working days.

The reason am asking (although confident that lawyer has been doing a great job) is that I've been seeing timeline updates of VJers when NVC receives their packet. Another concern of mine is the case number. Do we need to know ? :bonk: or let the lawyer handle everything. Thank you friends for enlightening me on this.

Maybe am just having mixed emotions, a lil nervous and excited, as I know things will speed up now that we have everything ready.

NVC will NOT contact the petitioner as he (YOUR HUSBAND) assigned a Choice of Agent (Lawyer) your lawyer will rec'd all the documents and he will advise you of the next step.

As for the timeline most of us if not all of us have been working on this process ourselves with the help of VJ and their guides, So that is probably the reason why you see the change in timelines. As for the case number YOUR husband ( the petitioner) can call himself to NVC and provide them with the information on you case and asked them to give him his CASE NUMBER AND IIN (invoice identification number). You don't need you lawyer for this, But it good to have as you guys can check if a AOS fee or IV fee has been generated.

Nervous, excited, mix emotions are all part of the process... :) You guy will be ok!!

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

Oh thank you so much sis for your quick response informing me how it goes. I will request hubby to call the NVC on the 27th if we wont hear from the NVC. It says on NOA2 form to allow 30 days before we contact them. Thank you once again and God bless you with your beloved. :)

I initally used an attorney, he got the notice, it was a waste of time and money. You will be OK.

Thank you!

Both you and your husband can call the nvc for the numbers. Only at the uscis stage will they only talk to the petitioner. The nvc will contact your lawyer but this is one of those times that a lawyer who is waiting vs a person who is proactive, makes the process take longer. If your lawyer is handling all the paperwork you don't have to do anything, but if you want to you could call and get these numbers and provide them to the lawyer. Up to you.

My petition was approved Nov 19, and NVC still hasn't received it yet. I've called many times and sent them my approval noticed and they're still trying to locate my case.

I called Uscis and they told me to calm down it can take up to 90 days for Uscis to transfer my case to NVC.
