Hi all,

I've read a million threads on the short form BC vs. the long form BC for the USC. And then some states don't even have 2 different forms. Anyway, I turned in a short form birth certificate for the USC but it does have BOTH of my parents' names on it. Do you think it will be an issue? I didn't see where anyone had posted this specific issue as it seems most states with short forms do NOT include the parents' names. It is not pocket sized, or anything like that. It's an official document (I used it to get my US passport) and is about half of a sheet.

I didn't turn it every page of my passport because it did not have a validity of 5 years (only 2.5 years).

Thank you! You all are wonderful!

All birth certificate usually name the parents. Long form gives bio data about them such as date of birth. It is more important that the immigrant use the long form , as it helps establish the identity of parents if they wish to immigrate later.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I had the same confusion and worry when I sent in my packet. I'm from Wisconsin. My birth certificate includes my information as well as the last names and first initials of my parents. Our visa petition just got approved 2 days ago with no RFE, so I think you should be fine!

Thank you embord & congrats on your approval!!! That was a huge relief! I'm still going to order my long form *just in case* but fingers crossed the short form will be ok.
