Does the affidavit have to be notorized?

Just wondering if the affidavit HAS to be notorized. I'll be sending my I-751 in this next week.

What affidavit are you talking about? For the I-751 (Removal of Conditions) there is no affidavit required.

The affidavit from friends or family confirming your marriage to be a true and loving one. It's one of the recommendations for evidence.

It does have to be notarized. But there is a special phrase you can use in lieu of the notarization. Do a search, it's been posted before.

We went to our local INS and we asked the officer if it needs to be notarized and she said YES it's very important.

It does not have to be notarized (it is not required, in other words). Good idea to put at the bottom:

I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing is true and correct.
