51% of the popular vote translated to 61% of the electoral college vote - your thoughts on the EC.

  1. 1. Is the EC working as originally intended?

  2. 2. Would you prefer the United States elect Presidents on the basis of a national popular vote?

  3. 3. Would you prefer we keep the EC but require all states to divvy up their EV's on a proportional basis?

Anyone who thinks that the EC is working as originally intended needs to go re-read the constitution and look at the modifications made to it.

The people were never supposed to have ANY type of actual 'vote' for the Presidency. Nor were they the Senators as well.

The 'people' is supposed to be the House of Reps.

I want to go back where there is no election for VP, the one with the majority becomes President, and the one with the second most votes becomes VP. That allows the opposition to have the deciding vote in the Senate, instead of the President's party. The President still has his veto, if he doesn't like what comes out of Congress. It could also mean the end to the two party system.

With the popular election of Senators, there is no reason to allocate them two to a state, rather they should be doubled in number, and allocated to the states based on population.

The bigger issue is that a minority of the popular vote translates into a 55.6% majority in the House of representatives. ;)

That's because we make you libs live in ghettos, and save the healthy, wide open spaces for Real Americans.

Tell me about it. I am one of those liberals living among real Americans. I feel like I live in a zoo sometimes...

In the cage, or did somebody leave the gate open? I live in a liberal wonderland, and it never ceases to be entertaining.
