I understand they test for TB during the medical prior to the interview. They draw blood also take an X-ray. I have received TB tests in the past and they inject a small amount of PPD (tuberculin, purified protein derivative)under the skin on your arm. You had to come back the next day for the medical staff to 'read the results'. The next day they looked at the injection site and if you had a bump on your arm was positive for TB. I have read a number of people go to the medical facility and have their medical done that morning. They then return that afternoon at 3:00 to pick up their sealed medical package that they take to the interview the next day. Does anyone know if they still do the TB skin test or just look at your X-ray for signs of TB? Thanks in advance for your reply. My fiance is in Mexico so I would also love to hear from anyone who had a recent medical in Mexico. Thanks again

Usually if the x-ray is clear you are good to go. If there is a shadow, you will get the skin test.

As far as I am aware the skin test will only show if you have been exposed to TB ever- it does not prove infection so if they do an X-ray the skin test is redundant as the X-ray will show if you have TB.

thanks for the reply. I was thinking if they do the TB skin test there is no way you can have the medical that morning and pick up the medical results package that afternoon at 3:00. I am trying to get a real feeling for what will happen those days from the medical to the interview and then the K1 visa. :D Happy days will be here soon. I would still love to hear from anyone that had a recent medical in Ciudad Juarez. Thanks again

God bless and God's speed to each of you

My fiancee did it last month. They open doors at 5:30am Pretty simple. Height blood pressure weight and chest xray. Then you go to a small room And undress and get in a hospital gown and a female doctor comes in and you show her your entire body. They ask about tattoos, piercing, and drug use. Any drug use and you are going to have problems no matter how long ago it was if you admit to it. Then return at 2:00pm for the results that you can not open and take those to the interview. The cost is $211. I had her pay in dollars.

They use the chest x-ray for TB. You do the medical early in the morning, and then return that same afternoon for the results.
