Confusing I797 notice

Dear VJ'ers,

I recently got my NOA2 (Yay) and I also got the letter in the mail from them informing me of the approval. What is confusing me is the language of the notice. In the notice it states: The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about Visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate.

What in the world does this mean?? And why does the notice not mention forwarding the petition to the NVC? Does this mean that my petition has already been forwarded to the embassy where my fiancee has to apply (I know it's a long shot that they managed to do this so quickly). I'm attaching the notice along with this post. Hope to hear from y'all in this regards soon. Thanks in advance for the help.

Congrats on getting your NOA2.

Notices are forwarded to the Consulate VIA the NVC {this is because case/ file numbers have to be assigned or created for each petition}.

Once the consulate receives your petition from NVC you will be contacted

You can also call or email the NVC to get your petition case number and also find out if your file has been forwarded to your consulate .

Good luck

well....that means they have forwarded your case to NVC who are then going to forward it to the consulate in the country which you are filing for your fiance. Give it a week and you can call the NVC and ask for your case number(which is the number you will be using to track your case) you will also receive a letter from the State Department indicating that they received your approved petition and are forwarding.. if have not already forwarded your case to the consulate...........from here on things are pretty fast.....i hope this helps you...

That is standard government-speak nonsense, and it sounds like your approved petition is being handled in the regular and standard manner. Check out the process from the Department of State Nonimmigrant Visa FAQs:

Congratulations!!! :dancing:

Good luck on your visa journey.
