A friend needs help on his CR1 visa

Hi Vj ppl,A friend of mine is in CR1 visa process but he doesnt know much about nvc so he only send few documents during the stage NVC,he got his interview date last Fridat,2 days ago and it is 28 of Dec so that is 1 month and 18 days a long way to go so he ask if he can send it some documents to front load at NVC because he just got his interview date and his petition has not yet been send to lagos,so nvc can get the documents from him within 2 weeks before his petition sent to Lagos COnsulate for interview,he really want to do this because lagos embassy doent have time to check documents during interview so it is best to front load

can anyone advice if he should send the documents to NVC or not?

He can send it directly to NVC by DHL or UPS from Nigeria to make fast delivery to NVC

can anyone advice if he should send the documents to NVC or not?

I would say yes but also hand carry the copies for the interview and bring some 'unseen' items, such as more communication logs that would be accumulated by the time of the interview. What documents are you referring to besides proof of relationship ?

The documents i mean is proof of bonafied marriage,my friend is asking this because he want to be sure if he sent the documents,if NVC will add his to his file sending to lagos because he has case completed already and interview date,so he want to know if it is possible for NVC to add more documents to his file after case completed and got interview date and not delay his process

Yes send it in. There is a possibility of a small delay but better late than never in my opinion.

Personally he shouldn't risk it. The file is closed bundled ready to be sent to embassy if not already gone. They would have to pull the case and scan every single page into their file and re-bundle, than send out.

What they should do however is call NVC first thing Tuesday morning and check and see if the case has been sent to Lagos. Usually for Lagos they don't send out for abt 2 weeks after they assign the interviews. And they still are scheduling.

There was recently as case in Lagos where someone did that ( sent things to NVC that weren't in the original petition ) and those things were used to deny the couple. The mandate of the CO is they can only deny for facts not known when the petition was approved. Adding things at NVC are all "fact not known at the approval of the petition" and each of the things can be used to make a reason to deny. Giving them to the CO through the petition allows them to review them very closely and conjour up any excuse to deny.

The previous comments are all to be considered and valid and this board has been split on the 'should I or should I not' for years.

However if your friend has not added any or very few relationship evidence I would still take my chances with a possible twisting of the facts

by a CO rather than an outright refusal that would be decided long before he will ever reach the interview.

It comes down to a very personal choice with insight into his own case weighing the pros and cons.

If he has at least some decent relationship evidence submitted with the petition then I would lean towards you will probably be ok.

This is Lagos "TIL" and the only consistent thing about Lagos is its inconsistency. You never know what they will do next, although we see a pattern,

this pattern depends on such intrinsic variable matters that in the end he has to do what he feels is right for him after seeking advice, knowing the pendulum can swing both ways.

So, in a nut shell the question I would ask myself is how much and what relationship evidence was not included in the petition that may

be a deciding factor.

Can you please point us to the post or review that stated that sending information to NVC caused someone to be denied?

To the OP, lots of people told us to not send information to NVC because it will hurt you. We sent information anyway and when we got to the interview window, the approval letter was already on the table along with our original documents (see our full review here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=10483). The CO said she didn't need to see anything else (keep in mind we didn't send any supporting documentation to USCIS). Now, the issue is that your case is already closed, which could be problematic. I'd suggest sending it (with your official cover sheet) but not sending any original documents and have the same docs available during the interview in case NVC didn't send it to the embassy.
