Hi Guys!!! my girlfriend has previously been married with a guy from Lituania from 2002 to 2007 (got divorced in 2007) he was her friend, gay, so she decided to help him cos they are like brothers and she didnt want him to leave(he got his GC thanks to this marriage), I know that was not right...but no money was involved, it was just cos she loved him so much. But now we are thinking to start the process for my GC (im from South America, still living here) which im her REAL boyfriend... but im REALLY worried they could think its a sham marriage because she is doing the same twice (getting married with a non US citizen)....even if 5 years have passed already since she divorced her friend

opinions?

thanks!

Good Luck on your quest for your Green Card. However, that is not step #1. Don't you mean approval of the right to proceed with a Approved 129-F Petition and go from there... You use the word: My Girlfriend, you mean Finacee' don't you. You say: No money was involved: Yes there was, Fee's, plane tickets, etc. The same applies to you. You state: She helped him out because they are like brothers. What the ...... is that? Not once in your post did you say I love her? But, you definanately ask about the worry of getting a GC denied. You admitted she lied to the US Goverment to help him get his GC. It's no skin off your A... if she applies and gets denied or approved is it. If you love eachother, proceed. It just seems odd to me about asking about a GC at this point rather than getting approved for Round One.

What makes you think she won't do the same to you? The questions that would be raised at USCIS, how are you certain that your case is any different from her first husband?

What do you mean with the "same to you", we are a real couple, we love each other. She did a mistake 10 years ago when she was very young to help her gay friend, i do know its totally wrong, but as I said she was young (19 years old) she felt bad about her friend and well she did it....

But this is a different story, im not gay and i really love her (and i think she loves me too), im a bit scared they are gonna think at USCIS, she is one of those women that charge foreigners to get married, because its not really common that your two husbands were non-US citizens....

If you can only say "I think she loves me," then you should evaluate the state of the relationship before entering into the petition process. What does she want to do? Since she's the US Citizen, the process begins with her. Whether she opts to file a petition for a fiancé or a spouse, there are lots of steps involved. Read the VJ Guides to get an idea of the K-1 and IR-1/CR-1 visa processes, and again, discuss the process with your girlfriend.

I find that everybody is a little harsh with Argitinian28- And people are not forced to tell on a website "I love my wife" or "I love my husband". It's simple, in my own culture people don't tell it. I find more strange to read some posts from some girls meeting some men online, she fall in love after some days, she immigrates, come to visajourney, with a name close to "love Y" (maybe it's a way to try to convince people). But they seems to be great wives. so...

Just my two cents.

Ok, he is just a male, and maybe telling everybody "I love my girl friend" is not his cup of tea.

Talking about green card: Just a male not talking about love but planning for the future.

He has just a male mind, like those girls, just female minds  .

Being realistic is often equated with being harsh on VJ, so I'm not surprised that someone's feathers may be ruffled. The petition process is not for the faint of heart and will test your relationship if the petitioner and beneficiary are apart for most of the time between submitting the petition and receiving the visa to enter the country. It's not just about whether someone declares their love on VJ or anywhere else, to be honest, but it is about ensuring both the petitioner and beneficiary are fully aware of what this process entails.

You are right, members of VJ are right to be realistic when members ask some questions. It's the key to go forward. I was becoming emotional, which is unusual.Lol.

Good luck Argentinian28! Make sure that she is in love with you, that's is one key of a successful marriage.
