Mine was held in Campbell. There were 400+ ppl there to become citizens. I heard there were two sessions going on, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Mine was scheduled in the morning. I arrived 9:30 sharp, with my notification letter and greencard. I forgot to fill out the back of the questionnaire. So did that on the spot. Then I handed both the letter and the greencard to the person guiding us to the seat. It felt a bit sad to see him toss my greencard in the box (more like a trash bin) simply cuz I only got the card for a couple of months and never got to use it. Anyways, the ceremony went a little bit over an hour. Then they handed us our naturalization certificate row by row, which was quite efficient. After that, everyone hurried to join the line for the passport application, which you need to bring the actually application, two photos and a checkbook (or money order). I had to run to the bank to get a cashier's check cuz I didn't realize that I had used the last check in my checkbook. But that wasn't too bad. When I got back 20min later, the long line was down to a couple of ppl.

That was it. A good day to become a U.S. citizen ;)

When will you go to the social security office, is this after the passport arrives ?

The instruction says I need to show them my passport at the SS office. So guess I have to wait.

Good to know. Did you have to hand over your naturalization certificate when you turned in the passport application?

Yes. So the certificate was only with me for less than 30min. But if you wanna make a copy of it, you will have to apply your passport at the post office afterward.

Yes. They will return it vial normal mail, separately from the passport. So when you get your passport without it, don't freak out.

Mar 17 - got email, attached to one case number only, saying that my A number was changed relating to the I-130 filing

Submit Evidence of U.S. Citizenship

When applying for a U.S. passport in person, evidence of U.S. citizenship must be submitted with Form DS-11. All documentation submitted as citizenship evidence will be returned to you. These documents will be delivered with your newly issued U.S. passport or in a separate mailing.

I had my oath ceremony today.

I arrived there at around 7:30, waited in line and didn't get inside till ~8:15. I handed in my GC and letter, confirmed everything was right on my citizenship certificate and was handed a coloured piece of paper with my A# on it, as well as an American flag.

The ceremony started at ~9:30. It was over around 9:45. Then I had to wait until my colour was called to collect my certificate. I waited till about 11am.

And that's it. Done. I started my journey Oct 2007. Thanks to visajourney for all it's help. Congratulations to those who are citizens, and good luck to everyone out there yet to complete their journey.

Hi,

Had interview today. It was fast. The IO just randomly asked me some "unrelated" questions- How do you support yourself while you were in US? Do you know what it's meant to be a US citizen?

He asked almost everything you wrote in N400 - for the question -have you ever been arrested,cited or detained by any law enforcement officer? I told him I had one traffic violation. He amended my N-400 with the details of the violation,but did not ask for any documentations.

One thing-I guess he must be testing my US civics knowledge- Who is California US Senator? Luckily I remembered - the Senator who sponsored the gun control - Dianne Feinstein.

Anyway, it was very easy. Just relax. The whole process takes about 10mins.

I did request for a name change. I hope I can attend the oath ceremony this April, if not in May.

In the letter N-652 Naturalization Interview Results, the IO checked A) Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval. At this time it appears that you have established your eligibility for naturalization If final approval, is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath ceremoney. You cannot vote or register to vote until you are sworn in as a United States citizen.

X Please take this letter to the Oath Ceremony.

I did not see any other box that indicates that my naturalization was "approved".
