Can anyone please help me. I am a K1 visa holder, and have married, and have a SSN. Now I am filing my I485 Adjustment of status along with my I765 employment authorisation, but I don't know what to put on my advanced parole form for my intended date of travel. I am just starting the process of selling my house back in Australia so I May have to go over there at some point in the next 3-6 months, but at this point have no set plans. I do, however, intend to travel in December of 2013! My question is Do I need specific travel plans (and dates) to apply for the I131? and does it matter if I just put a random date in? (say in 3 months from now) It looks like I need a whole bunch of evidence for why I need to travel just to apply.

Thanks.

If you do not know the exact dates when you will be traveling, you can always say "to be determined". That's what I did when I applied for my AP. At that moment I did not know exactly when I would be traveling. About the length of my trip I put "1 month" but I will be in my country 2 months. I bought the plane ticket a few months after I applied for AOS.

You don't need to have specific travel plans, but the point of having an AP is to have the authorization for traveling abroad in case you have an emergency or you need to travel for whatever reason. Maybe by when you travel to Australia, you already have your GC approved but it's always good to have your AP just in case

Check the link, it might be helpful.

Hi, thanks for the tip. I looked at the link you posted and it looks like others have done the same.

Although the example form for the I-131 does have a specific date.

It would make me feel better about submitting the form with 'to be determined' in the date field if other people can confirm that is what they did and they were successful without delays in processing due to this.

Thanks again.

That is what I did, I wrote "to be determined" and I did not have any problem in getting the AP. Actually I'm gonna use the AP in 1 month to visit my country. I also have this friend that did the same... Thats what people include if they dont have an specific date for traveling and USCIS understand this.

Also, if you are not sure if you will need 2 trips ,then also check "more than 1 trips" (I did that too).

If you still have doubts, you can check others that had the same question.

Good luck when you file your AP.

You can put "unknown." AP is routinely approved for people with pending I-485 applications. You will have to get used to the fact that these forms are used in many different situations and will not be specifically tailored to your needs.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
