Help! Is a CR-1 for me

Hi all, hope you can help. I've read everywhere and am struggling.

I'm a US citizen and have been married to my Brazilian wife for about 6 months. We live in London and don't plan on moving to the US in the near future. However, I would like to bring my wife to the US occasionally to visit etc. I don't thInk a tourist is the way to go as I heard that is frowned upon for spouses and that would require her to do an appointment in Brazil. This is because her "roots" are in Brazil and she was rejected for a tourist visa before we were married (London embassy). Ideally we would just like to get her the CR-1 so she can come and go. But I can't tell if you are required to live there once you get it. Can anyone help and tell me which visa we need to get? Many many thanks in advance!!

An IR-1 / CR-1 immigrant visa is for an immigrant, i.e. someone who wishes to move their permanent residence to the United States. You do not want to do that, so this visa is not for you.

A tourist visa (B-2) would be the most appropriate visa for her, if you wish to come and go for short visits.

Well, the CR-1 is an immigrant visa. I think if she applies for a tourist visa, she should be okay as long as she can prove ties to Brazil and that you both are merely going on vacation or visiting. It could be that they were worried that she would immigrate. Since she now can immigrate if she likes (via the CR-1 process), if she merely applies for a tourist visa, the consulate might not be so suspicious.

I'd give it a shot. Unless Brazilians are supposed to do something different.

Well, as said before, CR-1 is for immigrant, if you do not intend to stay, do not apply for CR-1. You will need to try to apply for a tourist visa. Now, I don't understand, if you're in London, I'm pretty sure she has some kind of bonds to London, right? Is she studying? Working?

I've been to the US on a tourist visa after being married and had no problems.
