My wife and I are in the middle of an I-130 visa application, and I've been working this job in order to fulfill the income requirement for the affidavit of support when the time comes. I started driving a truck about two years ago, stayed with one company for 11 months, went to the Philippines to get married, and then came home and got another truck driving job in May. Now I have an offer to come drive for a company that will offer me a home-daily position with weekends off, vice the current over-the-road job I have. I'd like to take it, but I'm not sure how this will affect the affidavit of support. Does anybody have any experience with this? Are the visa people going to be looking for job security?

na, they are looking for prior years income

and current annual income (this is a projection)

but it's all looked at, at NVC, for the basic math.

ultimately, the I-864 is reviewed at the IV unit in Manila.

where are you, in the process? (gonna click yer timeline thingie)

whoops - no timeline thingie on you over at http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=96604

so - since yer in the middle of the I-130 (as you say)

you have other stuff coming up..

I-130 approval

casefile sent to NVC

NVC start document intake and fee processing

NVC finish up document intake and fee processing

so, somewhere , somehow, a new tax year is creeping up, with this year ending on 12/31/2012. Ultimately, the IV unit wants to see prior years tax info, including 2012, and that current annual income (projected number) for 2013.

I think you'll be ok, based on time and timing. Is not a sense of 'how many jobs' really, as it is 'what's the income?'

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My wife and I are in the middle of an I-130 visa application,

This is semantics only and I'm posting this so others who may read this do not become confused.

The I-130 is not a visa application form, it is a petition form filed by a US Citizen or LPR that is seeking permission for a foreign relative to apply for a visa.

The visa application form itself is the DS-230.

Well I hope they don't look too hard at the previous years income. I didn't work much during college, then I made garbage money (below the poverty line) in 2011, and I've only been at this job since May, so my 2012 won't look that great either, even though I'm currently making well above the requirement. I guess as long as I continue to make well above the requirement, I'll be ok. And yes, I'll get around to doing a timeline one of these days, but we started the process May 10.
