Submitting tomorrow, I-130 birth certificate question!

Submitting my I-130 tomorrow and it says I need a copy of my birth certificate or passport for petitioner. I used my birth certificate but it asks for a copy of birth certificate (front and back). The back is just a blank sheet of paper, should I just put in a black sheet as a copy of the back? Don't know what to do! Thanks.

We sent only the front, but we also sent a full copy of the US passport.

I wouldn't just put a blank sheet of paper in for the back. Is your Birth Certificate an 8x11 sheet or some other size? Is it white or some other colored paper?

Make a colored photocopy of the back even if it is blank. If the Birth Certificate has an embossed seal stamped on it turn up the resolution on the copier so the imprint will show its impression coming through on the copy of the back side as well as show the actual size and color of the document.

Try not to over think these things and just do as the instructions say... even if it makes no sense to ya!

I put in a copy of the back page of my birth certificate per the instructions, even though there was not much there.

July 23, 2025:  Filed N-400 online
