N/A would not be the correct reply as it certainly is applicable. Unknown would be more proper.

YMMV

We put "unknown".

I'm sure they don't know, which is why 'unknown' has to be written. My MIL and FIL do not know they exact date of their birth, only the year and possibly month.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

In that case I would put an approximate date and explain why the exact date is only approximate on a continuation page.

I had to look at the copy of the G-325A that we sent in for my fiance it has been a while, the line says IF KNOWN, we put what we knew, which were City, Province, Country, since we didn not know a DOB we did not put a date, just what was known, no need to write anything like "Unknown" or "N/A" just what is known.

We didn't do that and didn't feel the need. IT's fine if someone wants to do that, but as someone said, the directions say "If known", so they know that some places do not have records on it from the past. It was never a problem during our visa process and GC interview.

USCIS Embassies/consulates and even offices in the US seem to know certain things about countries they deal with, such as that many Indians do not have birth certificates or records of their birth before a certain year.

My fiancee also did not know her father's DOB. We put unknown and passed the USCIS and NVC checks.
