We all know the pain of seperation and we all must find our own way of coping with it. For some, options are very limited while others are more fortunate. For us, we use Facetime every single day to stay in touch and consider it a true blessing. We tried Skype at first but found it to be unreliable and the software seems to have multiple problems which get worse with time. (I know some who use Skype daily with little or no problems) For us, Facetime has been very reliable and offers better video quality. The only time we ever have a problem is when the Wi-Fi connection is poor on my fiancee's end. (which is far too often in the Philippines)

Of course, Facetime is only available for users of Mac products like iPhone 4/5, iPod Touch, iPad 2, Mac PC's and MacBook Pro but, for those who do, I find it to be of better quality and reliability. Fortunately, there is always Skype for non-Mac users and another service called Tango which I have downloaded but have never used. I've heard Tango is pretty decent, is 3G and 4G capable, and uses less bandwidth which helps if your Wi-Fi connection is a little slow.

One limitation of Facetime is that you must have a Wi-Fi connection on both ends of the conversation, it doesn't work with a standard 3G or 4G cellular connection but I have heard that the new iOs-6 update and/or iPhone 5 are capable of using 3G or 4G connections for iPhone 4/5 & iPad 2 users. Overall I think Facetime is pretty great and we are so thankful to have it. I can not even imagine how difficult it would be to be limited to email or instant messaging, or worse, snail mail! I really sympathize with those of you who have no other options.

So, which service do you use and why?

How often do you talk to your loved one?

Have you ever used Tango? If so, what do you like and/or not like about it?

I know some also use Yahoo for video chat, do you? If so, what do you like and/or not like about it? (I'm not a fan of yahoo)

Do any of you use another video call service not mentioned above? If so, what do you like and/or not like about it?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

We intially used YM video but it was very unreliable. We found Skype to be much more reliable.

We use QQ all the time. Very reliable and very common in China. If you have a PC though, be aware of viruses. As I am using a MAC, no problem at all.

We do video chat every day, very important during the wait.

Skype means I can keep in touch with my family back in the UK and friends all over the world. I had an iPhone 4 for nearly 18 months and didn't use Facetime once.

11/29/12 - AOS Interview in Atlanta - 10 minutes long and approved on the spot.

Facetime is actually great, very reliable, excellent video quality, and is a built-in feature with Mac products. You really should try it sometime. ;)

We use Skype everyday. Actually, to be honest, we just leave it on from the time we're both home until either one of us leaves to do something (like work or errands.) It's essentially on unless we're not home. blush.gif I do pay good money for a bunch of bandwidth every month to be included in my cable internet service.

When we're away from home we use gtalk (we both have android phones... I will never buy an apple phone) which has a video option as well.

Facetime requires everyone to have an Apple product (like iPod, iPhone, Macbook etc etc etc... whereas Skype is available for free, for anyone, on any device.) Its why I use Skype. :)

I have used Tango and found it to be glitchy on the phones. We also tried using a msn video chat and it didn't have the video quality that Skype does.

Limited Yahoo video chat for us, we both like that idea of not seeing each other much on videos (keeping the fun of seeing again next time) and both old schools but I have unlimited phone call to him :)

Exactly what we normally do. Although, we haven't been able to do this the last couple weeks because we have been so busy. But normally my fiance and I skype all night and use gtalk on our phones all day. This is going to sound bad, but I can't sleep unless we're on skype. When he goes to be earlier than I do, he lets me wake him up to talk for a few mins (L)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
