Failed to register with Selective Service

Thanks to this forum, hopefully I'll save my son (now 18) problems if/when he wants to apply for citizenship. He was a minor when we came here - he got a GC based on my (now ex-) husband's employer sponsoring us all. His GC expires in 2014, he can decide if he wants to renew or become a citizen - but when I got his selective service registration letter recently - I knew it was best to have him fill it out and send it in. He filled it out and signed it today.

It's an archaic system not fit for use in the twenty-first century, but it unfortunately is still the law of the land.

I hope someone gets around to fixing it (or, ideally, scrapping it). I suspect that it's probably of a questionable legality as well, since it only applies to men and not women, but there you go.

I agree. I was surprised it was still that way. But it is what it is, so if we're going to be here, we must abide by the laws of the land.

I went for my interview for AOS just eight(8) days to my 26th birthday and the approval letter did not come till the 25th of June stating the decision was made for approval on 22nd of June with effective that of 10th of June. Now I find my self in a dilemma. any ideas as to what I need to do?
