Hi I am from the Philippines. I have plan to apply for a US internship to be able to explore my ability in the hospitality industry. This also puts the desire for me to have my first step in acquiring my American dream to experience how to work and live in the USA. I have questions. are there possibilities for a J1 visa holder adjusts to H2B without going back to the home country? or are there any category that can save one from going back to the home country?

I'm not 100% about J-1 - It'll depend whether your J-1 visa has a "two year home residency requirement" or not. If your J-1 visa comes with a "two year home residency requirement" you'll have to leave and spend at least 2 years outside the US before you can apply for another visa.

The only non-immigrant visa I know 100% is "easily adjustable" to H-1b is the F-1 student visa.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge about work visas will be able to give you a better answer.
