Romney's wife, Ann, was in attendance, and the candidate spoke of the concern he had for her when her plane had to make an emergency landing Friday en route to Santa Monica because of an electrical malfunction.

"I appreciate the fact that she is on the ground, safe and sound. And I don't think she knows just how worried some of us were," Romney said. "When you have a fire in an aircraft, there's no place to go, exactly, there's no — and you can't find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don't open. I don't know why they don't do that. It's a real problem. So it's very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver. But she's safe and sound."

I thought that's what these were for...

Apparently, Ann 'Marie Antoinette' Romney's ordeal wasn't enough to trigger the plane's emergency oxygen system. Either that or she didn't dare put a mask on her face - no telling what kind of smelly person who doesn't pay federal taxes, used it before her.

Or the equipment she was flying in was not in good repair. Less regulation should address that.

The airlines don't need regulation. They just need competition.

Here's a model with easy access to outside air. rofl.gif

Fire + Oxygen.....you get the math. Of course decompressing the cabin at 20,000ft might put it our I guess....

They get more ventilation in First Class, than they do in Economy, plus just the population of oxygen consumers is less. I wonder if that means they will catch fire sooner.

I took a MAC flight in a C-141 once, from Hickam to Kwajalein, and behind the cordoned off area where the baggage and freight was stored, you could see where the fuselage was being pressurized from an air duct. It looked like a snow blower with all the frost flying out. I bet the air is a little cold out there. It was about the coldest, most uncomfortable flight I ever took.
