HI everyone,

I've been leaving in the US for 11 years, first on student visas, then work visas, last one a TN1-VISA. It ended April 5th, 2012. A month before that my now husband and I got married, (civil in March, religious just last August).

The problem is that my husband quit his job 2 years ago. He had lots of savings (which are now running out) and was able to live off of that. I've been trying to help him go back to work, but it just seems so hard for him to pick something. He's very smart and that seems to make him think that he can only do certain kind of jobs. At this point I wouldn't mind working at walmart.

Without a job we can't prove enough funds for sponsorship. I myself would contribute if I could. I have a job offer just waiting for me (a past employer). And I know we could get a co-sponsor.. but I feel like this is our problem not a friend's or family.

We're both designers, if he established a business formally, would that help? Would immigration take that into account in any way? I don;t know how fast he/us can get money flowing.

So frustrated...

All you can do is get a co-sponsor. Owning a business will not help unless he makes enough money to qualify.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

This. Or if he has enough in savings to qualify based on assets. He would need 3x the required amount in savings (so if 125% of the poverty line was $20,000 he would need $60,000.)

Or, he could get a crappy job (or 2) until you can help by working, and to get you through your AOS. Personally I think it's worth the sacrifice.
