Received Green Card - Do i need to change SSN

3 weeks ago my I-485 was approved and I recently received my temporary green card. Prior to this I was on an H1-B Visa. I am in the process of attempting to change jobs ad i want to be sure my paperwork is in line to be able to do so.

Do i need to change my SSN or card to reflect the change in my status. My SS Card currently has 'Valid for work only with DHS authorization' printed on it.

Along with the green card, Is this sufficient to allow me to work for a new employer?

Yes, You can work for whoever you want now.

You don't have to change your social card but I think it's better to do so.

ya you def. can work where ever how ever you want. you have ALL the rights a citizen has minus voting i do believe. infact, its often joked about that immigrants have more rights than a US Citizen lol but of course, the work force world is at your finger tips! giver

You're not obligated to change the ssn however a good idea to get an unrestricted one. Greencard and ssn is sufficient to prove you're allowed to work and can start rightaway. My employer only asked what my ssn was, not to see the card itself. Depending on your employer, some are more or less unfamiliar with the greencard as ID - I'd bring state ID/driver's license as ID as well if possible if it's a smaller company.

The two things a green card holder cannot do that a US citizen can are: (1) vote, and (2) serve on a jury.

In addition, certain jobs, especially many with the federal government, require you to be a US citizen.

Go to the SS office and update your record with them from visa holder to permanent resident. You do the same thing after becoming a citizen.

Also your greencard isn't temporary. It just has a shorter term and will require you to jump through a few more hoops to renew it. You are a permanent resident, just like a person holding a 10 year card. Congratulations.
