Hello all. I need some advice. Today I got my AOS interview notice and on the letter there is a big long list of things I must bring with me. I can easily bring my wife, so that is not a problem. And we submitted the affidavit of support documents when we applied so that is not a problem either. However, we never submitted a I-693 vaccination record (I did submit a copy of my vaccination record I got from my K1 visa. Will that be sufficient? Also we submitted our original marriage document and my wife's divorce decree with my application. Will we need to get another to take with us to the interview or will they have the original AOS petition? I did not apply for a SSN before my I-94 expired so I have no SSN and have been unable to have a joint account with my wife. I have received approval for my EAD and as soon as it arrives I will be going to Social Security to get my SSN. Will this be a problem if it does not arrive in time for me to be put on my wife's account? My main concern is the lack of supporting documentation we have. My wife is unemployed and has no insurance, she receives child support of 500 per month. We also live with her parents so we have no lease. Her phone is on her mother's account so even that is not in her name. All we can provide to support or relationship is photos. Photos of our wedding, photos of me and the kids, photos of me and her family. Will any or all of my questions be problems at the interview. After months of not being concerned I am now starting to be. Our marriage and relationship IS real and I want to spend the rest of my life with her

The list of documents is a generic letter for everybody adjusting status, it is not specific to K-1 so yes, there are some docs that make wonder why they want them again.

No need for the I-693. I was in the same case and kind of worried about it too. But looks like they have your medical docs that were in the sealed envelop at POE, otherwise you would have receive a RFE for lost medical docs. Do not worry about that. I brought with me another copy of my vaccination record from my K-1 medical just in case, but that was not necessary as they had the copy submitted in the AOS package.

If you submitted original documents, you're good and no need to bring some new ones. Although I did bring all the docs on the list with me again (in case they lost the ones I sent in my package), but in my own experience, the IO logically didn't ask them to me again. It's still better to have some with you, just in case (it will also make you feel more confident).

If you submitted copy of documents, you need to have the originals with you.

If you can't provide evidence of a join bank account, joint insurance or whatever, try to have evidence that explains why. Statement of your mother/father-in-law saying you all live together? Pictures are good, especially the ones dated after your wedding (and at your wedding).

When is your interview? Your plan is good, as soon as you have your EAD, go to the SS office, request a number. As soon as you receive your SS card, go to a bank and open a joint bank account. I believe you can ask for a statement, or a proof showing you opened a joint account to the bank employee when you'll do it.

Try to think of evidences that will convince the IO that you are living together and are having a real relationship... :)

My interview is on the 10th of October. I just got an update from the USCIS saying that the USPS has picked up my EAD, so I expect that next week. As soon as I get it I will go to Social Security. I hope it all gives me enough time. Thanks for the advice and I will get my in-laws to make a statement saying that they have the lease in their names and all the utilities too. They are my co-sponsors as well so I hope that will all make sense to the IO

If you have the head space to manage it, you might consider getting your wills done. We have one already, partly because I have children and still have property and assets in Aus. We will be showing that if we actually get an interview too. We don't have mortgage or utilities on joint names, so we could use the extra information.

Good luck. I was transferred to CSC, so I'm in the long wait queue.

However, we never submitted a I-693 vaccination record (I did submit a copy of my vaccination record I got from my K1 visa. Will that be sufficient? It's the same. The letter is often a standard letter. The vaccination record you're talking about is probably the ds-3025 which was submitted/filled out at the medical appointment in home country Also we submitted our original marriage document and my wife's divorce decree with my application. Will we need to get another to take with us to the interview or will they have the original AOS petition? Have the landlord write an affidavit attesting you both live there, and have been living there since xx date and xx year. Your mother-in-law/father-in-law can do the same. Letters/cards sent to your address from friends, family, or letters sent to both of you(for some reason, my husband and I received a bunch of "to mr. and mrs. W" trying to prove why their insurance/loan/store was better for newlyweds). Gym membership for both of you, your name on her car title, her filing taxes as married - things you can start gathering regardless of getting bank account opened.

You have approx a month from now so receiving EAD in about a week gives you 3 weeks to gather your documents. You can also get a state-ID/learner's permit in most states with your EAD+ssn(and supporting documents) which shows your address on the state-ID.

Ohh.. And if your bank for some reason won't let you open a joint bank accoint or add you, some banks are usually willing to give you a letter saying why it is not possible. Ask for that if it's a dead end at your bank - or simply set up a joint account somewhere else.
