No response from USCIS for over 5 months

Hi fellow VJers,

I applied on 03/14/2012 in Dallas, TX lockbox for US Citizenship. I finished my BIO (fingerprint) appointment, but I haven't heard anything in a long time (over 5 months from date of application). In June, I received yellow letter stating bring all the required documents to the interview, but I haven't received interview letter itself.

One of my friend who lives in same city as I live in had his wife's application complete in 3 months. Does anyone know why is it taking so long for us. I see that most of the people who applied before me in the list for March above have their stuff complete all the way thru.

please advise me folks...just getting little worried and freked out.

Could it be possible that they sent you an interview letter but you never received that? and you missed the interview. Give a call to USCIS and check it out there.

I have a feeling your interview letter got lost in the mail. You need to contact the USCIS immediately and get an infopass sooner. No other apparent reason comes to mind.

Did you sign up for electronic notification? If so, what stage does the website say you are at?

We already USCIS account and the status on the account says: Initial Review

The BIO-METRIC appointment was completed on April 10, 2012.

My wife called USCIS and they told her that it could take more than 5 months to process the application. They told her that not all cases complete within 5 months. Any truth to this or as usual, the USCIS operator doesn't have any clue?

The operator was correct this time. Not all cases are decided within five months. Hell, some cases are still pending for more than a year. It all depends on case to case. But yes, on an average, cases are being decided between 4 to 7 months. Then again, it also depends where you live and how crowded or under-staffed your local office is.

Thanks to all the guys who replied....

However, the field office says "5 months" for their case processing timeline for N-400. So they are resolving all cases within 5 monhts right? I am not trying to argue with USCIS or anyone here. But, I want to know what my options are besides just waiting and not doing anything. What should I do now?

I would like to know of any one office that can claim they settle "ALL" cases within 5 months. You have two options. Call the USCIS # and talk to a Tier two officer who would have knowledge of your actual case. Or, schedule another infopass and hope to get an officer who would sincerely make an effort to help you. Dont get worried..just call uscis or take info pass appointment.

My husband also applied for USC in march 10th ..he called for biometrics in 17th April..he got an interview letter stating that interview on 13th june.But again he called for reinterview on 6th sep.

Call USCIS or take info pass apointment.
