We just received notice of action i-797 that petition has been approved for k-1 visa. What happens next? The letter has no instructions.

It simply means: Your I-129-F was filed correctly and they cashed your check. Now, the wait for a NOA2. Your fine and no worries. You past the first Stage of the process.

It is normal to have No Instructions with your NOA1.

I would start getting prepared by gathering documents and evidence that you will need for the next stage.

-copy of beneficiary birth certificate

-evidence of engagement (ring receipt, pictures of engagement parties, etc)

-police certificates for beneficiary for any city he/she's lived in for more than a year since age 16 (not needed for US locations)

-evidence of ongoing relationship: pictures of you with family, at work, in various places with landmarks; airline receipts and particularly boarding passes (to prove you actually got on the flight)

That would be a very good start...

Actually both the NOA1 and the Noa2 are 1-797, notice of action's, If it says your petition has been approved this makes it the NOA2.

Is this the first thing you have recieved since sending in the 1-129F petition or second?

The only difference is NOA2 is I-797 and NOA1 is I-797C

Sounds like this is your NOA2, start gathering the evidence you will need for the interview stage. From what I understand your petition will be sent to the NVC, which will then be sent to the embassy. Each country is different so you will have to look into your country specific information and requirements, but generally you should be able to pay the visa fee and get an interview scheduled once the embassy receives the packet from NVC. That is how it is for Colombia anyways, your country may differ.

Congratulations on your approval!
