Hello everyone...ok so I am sure a few people that read this have already seen me ask this question on FB so sorry ahead of time for the repeated question but I figured I better bring this to VJ (a bigger audience). All opinions are welcomed but I would really like to here from those that have "been there done that"...ok so when it's time to submit the DS-230 at the NVC stage should I or shouldn't I use this time to submit more evidence to the embassy? I have heard yes do it and no don't...well that's it :)...thanks in advance!

hello, no not yet for the ds230 if you did not send it with your petition to the lock box. you will have an apportunity to send it in to the nvc with your ds3032 and biometrics. they will ask you for that. you will even know when to pay the next fees too. they will send you an noa. just wait now, it takes time for them to approve or rfe.

Well FWIW I didn't send anything with the DS-230 except the required documents. I feel like anything extra will slow the process, and "muddle" up what's supposed to be there (i.e., police report, birth cert, etc.)...extra documents should be carried to the interview...

The DS-230 is sent when you have paid the IV bill.......well sometimes the CO during the interview they refuse to see any more documents brought by the applicant. At the end of the day they will denial based on insufficient documents, i have seen where such things happened.... To override that its advisable to add more evidence at the NVC stage so it gets to the CO before the interview to review them..... your spouse should also take more evidence to the interview as well...... some people will say not to add more evidence at NVC stage because it will slow the process BUT its not true..... I added more evidence at NVC stage plus the evidence sent at the USCIS stage and i got my case completed in less than a week it didn't slow anything for me

Its Lagos that we are dealing with so do everything possible to avoid any stupid denial

Specifically, I've just done this. I included 7 pounds of evidence at the IV stage. You can see from my timeline below our process was not slowed down at all.

I included a cover letter with the evidence I wanted forwarded like a years worth of recent phone records, joint accounts, letter from bank, policies I have added him to like health insurance, life insurance and car insurance, etc. And answers to questions that I believe will come up, like...why do we not have many emails, chat messages, etc.

If there is something you feel is going to cause a stumbling block in your case with the CO, address it front and center. Remember, these people do not know you. They only know what you explain to them to get a better understanding of your case and your individual situation. So I addressed that my husband does not type and also addressed or bi-racial relationship. I also got backup letters from my mother, sister and cousin...his brother and best-friend (affidavits)...that we have been in a relationship for almost three years now and how they all thought we were NUTS to begin with!

The cover letter simply stated, please forward this folder to the Nigerian Embassy for Interview Evidence Purposes. I have an identical copy of everything in those folders to give to my husband to take to interview just in case anything is misplaced.

Make yourself real...without some explanation and evidence...you are just another number to them! God bless your journey!

Thank you Dana and what you said makes perfect sense...you are right we are telling a story to strangers and they need to be able to put it all together without question! Thank you I believe I have decided to go for it...submit more evidence @ the NVC stage!

Send what you think will show an ongoing relationship (snap shots not the kitchen sink). I believe I read where you sent over 1,000 pages with your petition most of it probably won't make it to NVC.

I was told by the NVC to send everything I want the interviewer to see including pictures, western union receipts ect. The lady at the NVC told me, my husband should only bring to the interview medical sealed file, his passport, appointment letter. The lady said the officer will have already looked at the pictures before my husband has his interview..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank you so much for sharing! I had already told my hubby I didn't want him taking much evidence at all with him but was getting confused when I seen some people said don't do it...but for us I will...so I better get busy and make sure I send in all the added evidence I need to NVC when the time comes! thank you!
